Who is Heinz?
As time passes, so things change. As a result, I feel that
it is time to update this page a bit. This is a personal
page about who I am, what I believe and what drives me.
First off, I am a Christian. This is the cornerstone of
what I am and who I am.
So, what does it mean to me, when I say that I am a
Christian? It means that I believe that Jesus is God,
and that he came to earth as the Messiah to save us
from sin and from ourselves. Furthermore, I believe that
the Bible is the word of God to us. It is a book that is
incredibly consistent throughout. From Genesis to
Revelation, it shines with the two most important
commandments:
- Love the Lord your God, with all your heart, with all your soul,
with all your strength and with all your mind.
- Love your neighbour as yourself.
I have given up trying to find God's favour by my own
goodness and "good deeds". That will just never be
good enough. It is only by Jesus' death on the cross
and his resurrection that I have a chance,
because through Jesus, I have got peace with God.
I believe that the Bible is the Word of God. I have read
the Bible from cover to cover many times. It is a terribly
boring book, unless you ask God to open your eyes when you
read it. Try it. Close your eyes, ask God to open your
spiritual eyes and say it with conviction. Then open the
Bible, and read it. A good start would be the Gospel of
Luke, written by a physician.
My heritage is this: I was born in Cape Town, South Africa,
on the 4th of December 1971. My mother is from Germany,
my father was of German & Dutch descent. I lived in
the same room of a big house for 22 years. My wife was
born in the same hospital as me, a few weeks before me,
but we only met when we were 19. She is half Greek, half
English.
We moved to Greece in October 2006 due to various factors.
Greece is an easy place for us to go to, since my wife and
children have Greek passports. I got a residence permit
quite quickly and can apply for citizenship within 2 years.
In the last few years, a lot of my business has been in
Europe. The constant travelling across large distances
was starting to get to me, so we thought it more practical
to be closer to where our work is.
